Who We Are
Rock & Refuge is a small, welcoming Christian congregation in Westminster, Maryland. We are rooted in Scripture, committed to growing as disciples of Jesus Christ, and excited to be part of the Global Methodist Church.
Our size allows us to know one another, notice visitors, and make room for people to participate. We want to be a church where faith is genuine, relationships matter, and people are encouraged to grow in their walk with Christ.
Our Mission
To Know Jesus and Make Him Known
For us, that means growing in our relationship with Jesus through Scripture, prayer, worship, and Communion—and making Him known through the way we love, serve, speak, and live.
Our Story
Rock & Refuge began when a small group of Christians in the Hampstead area began gathering together for study and worship. What started simply grew into a church committed to following Jesus, remaining faithful to Scripture, and sharing the hope of the Gospel.
Through seasons of growth and change, a core group has continued to worship, serve, and seek God’s direction together. In 2026, Rock & Refuge became part of the Global Methodist Church, beginning a new chapter with a permanently appointed GMC pastor and a renewed focus on discipleship, outreach, and making Jesus known.
We Are Global Methodist
As part of the Global Methodist Church, Rock & Refuge is connected to a worldwide Methodist movement committed to making disciples of Jesus Christ and spreading scriptural holiness. We share its commitment to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, the authority of Scripture, the work of the Holy Spirit, and making disciples who live out their faith in the world.
The GMC’s call to “inspire people to follow Jesus and fearlessly change the world” reflects the kind of church we want to be. At Rock & Refuge, that starts with faithful worship, growing closer to Jesus, following the leading of the Holy Spirit, and making Christ known in our community.
Our Pastor
Pastor Greg Louque serves Rock & Refuge as our appointed pastor in the Global Methodist Church. His ministry is grounded in Scripture, pastoral care, discipleship, and attentiveness to the work of the Holy Spirit. He wants people not simply to know more about faith, but to grow in a deeper relationship with Jesus and live that faith beyond the walls of the church.
Pastor Greg brings a down-to-earth and humble approach to preaching and ministry. He values the partnership of pastor and congregation as together we seek God’s direction, grow in faith, and serve our community.
